In 2016 the Junior Agency Award show took place in Berlin, was organized by the design akademie berlin and accompanied by us as film producer. The seven participating teams from all regions of Germany came together on 15 July 2016 to compete for the prestigious gold, silver and bronze trophies. Each team had one semester to work out a campaign together with a high-ranking advertising agency. The result was then presented to a jury consisting of agency managers, marketing experts from companies, professors and journalists in a 25-minute pitch on the day of the award show. These then had to evaluate and judge who would receive the three awards at the award ceremony in the evening. In addition, an audience-selected Making-off Award and an audience prize were given.
The German Association of Communication Agencies, GWA, represents the interests of German communication and advertising agencies and counts numerous leading agencies such as BBDO, Heimat, Jung von Matt, MEDIA CONSULTA, Saatchi & Saatchi and thjnk among its 110 members.
The GWA is known above all for its popular awards, such as the GWA Effie for Marketing Communication, the GWA HealthCare for Healthcare Communication, the GWA Profi Award for B2B Marketing and the GWA Junior Agency Award for Young Talent for marketing and communication campaigns by students in cooperation with leading agencies in this field. As a film producer, we were responsible for the 2016 award ceremony.
Our first assignment was to create a trailer for the award show, which should be shown in advance on the social network channels of GWA to announce the event. The theme of the 2016 show was “Do Epic Shit”, which stood for an urban playfulness. The trailer was also supposed to appear at the award show itself and to announce and introduce the programme points of the evening and the different teams in a modified form.
Furthermore, as a film producer, we were commissioned to create an event documentary about the day, which would also serve as a trailer for the award show in the coming year.
