Today’s software allows visualizations and animations to be realized in 3D in a way that is true to reality. But it also opens up completely new possibilities for the client: Not only can working in 3D save costs and time compared to real film, but areas can also be implemented that would not even be possible with real images. In 3D, for example, the limits of physics can be overcome, or a sunrise can be experienced within the living room at home.
How a good 3D agency works in Berlin
When an architect, film director or manufacturer decides to implement 3D, the right approach is required. This is crucial for a successful end result. In any case, great importance should be attached to a thorough pre-production. The client and the 3D agency should enter into an intensive planning discussion, in which an initial brainstorming session takes place and the client’s possible ideas are discussed and analyzed in terms of their objectives. It is important that the client’s corporate identity and target group are also taken into account when creating the 3D concept. It is possible that a client does not have a precise idea of the implementation in advance and would like professional advice.
At this point, a suitable mood board should be created for this client via self-research and competitor analysis and possible ways of implementation should be visually shown to him, which should facilitate further decision-making. Once a suitable objective has been agreed, it is advisable to provide clients with a fairly precise idea of the end result as quickly as possible. Common here are so-called style frames, which show important stills of the targeted 3D video or 3D visualization in detail in terms of shape and color, so that a clear look & feel can be understood. If the project involves moving images, the development of a storyboard is also a significant step, which breaks down the elaborated concept into images and depicts the structure of the film frame by frame.
Once this conceptual phase has been completed together, digital production can be initiated. During this phase, clients receive ongoing updates from the project phases to allow feedback loops at all meaningful points. The boundaries between production and post-production are fluid, especially when creating in 3D space, as the work is purely digital. This offers clear advantages to both the client and the agency.
The benefits of 3D production
A live-action film shoot needs to be comprehensively organized and planned: actors have to be cast, locations found and booked. These items are omitted in 3D production, since the creation is done solely on the computer. In this way, time and budget can be saved and used elsewhere, such as for the conceptual phase.
A product is to be advertised that is still in production or perhaps does not even exist yet. Often, visual concepts or CAD models already exist for this purpose. With a more advanced visualization or animation in 3D, products can be presented realistically and appropriately staged to create valuable marketing material.
Real filmed recordings can quickly reach their limits: Certain facts want to be told, but are difficult to depict with a camera. Work in digital 3D is not subject to these limitations and any idea can be realized.
3D production makes it possible to react quickly at any time to subsequent and even spontaneous change requests from the client. For example, objects can be duplicated and graphics, colors and shapes or even entire scenes can be exchanged.
